# Tigris

> Connect Tigris object storage to BucketMate with a Tigris access key

Canonical: https://docs.bucketmate.app/macos/providers/connect-tigris

BucketMate connects to Tigris through its S3-compatible endpoint. BucketMate for macOS and iOS has a dedicated **Tigris** provider option with the endpoint prefilled.

## Prerequisites

- Tigris account, or a Fly.io organization with Tigris storage
- Access key ID, starting with `tid_`
- Secret access key, starting with `tsec_`
- Bucket

## Endpoint and region

Use this endpoint:

```text
https://t3.storage.dev
```

The region is always `auto`. Tigris distributes data globally, so there is no regional endpoint to pick. The older `https://fly.storage.tigris.dev` endpoint still works.

## Connection steps

1. Open the Tigris console at [console.storage.dev](https://console.storage.dev). Fly.io users can sign in with Fly.io.
2. Go to **Access Keys** and create a key.
3. Give the key access to the buckets you want to browse.
4. Copy the access key ID and secret access key. If you created the bucket with `fly storage create`, you can use the keys it printed instead.
5. Open BucketMate.
6. Choose **Add connection**.
7. Select **Tigris**.
8. Keep the prefilled endpoint `https://t3.storage.dev` and region `auto`.
9. Enter the access key ID and secret access key.
10. Use **Test Connection**.
11. Choose **Connect**.

## Common issues and fixes

### Access denied

The access key has no role on the bucket. In the Tigris console, open **Access Keys** and give the key access to the bucket.

### Invalid access key

The key was deleted, or the key and secret were swapped. Access key IDs start with `tid_` and secrets start with `tsec_`.

### SignatureDoesNotMatch

The secret is wrong or the region isn't `auto`. Set the region to `auto` and paste the secret again.

### Temporary credentials

Tigris only supports access key and secret pairs. STS and temporary session credentials are not supported.

### Buckets do not load

If the key can only access some buckets, turn off **Load all buckets** and add the bucket names manually.

## BucketMate tips

- Tigris has no egress fees, so downloads and previews don't add transfer charges.
- Infrequent Access has a 30 day minimum and Archive tiers have a 90 day minimum. Check before changing a file's storage class.
- Use presigned links for temporary access to private objects.
