Preview, share, and download
Preview files with Quick Look, share them, save them to Photos or Files, and copy presigned links in BucketMate for iOS
BucketMate uses iOS Quick Look, the system share sheet, Photos, and the Files app so stored objects work like local files on your iPhone.
Preview a file
- Tap a file, or touch and hold it and choose Preview.
- BucketMate downloads the file and opens it in Quick Look.
- Tap Done to close the preview.
Quick Look handles images, videos, PDFs, text, and other formats iOS can display.
Share a file
- Touch and hold a file.
- Choose Share.
- Pick an app or action from the system share sheet.
BucketMate downloads the file first, then hands it to the share sheet. To share many files at once, use multi-select (Pro). See Browse and manage files.
Download a file
- Swipe left on a file and tap Download, or touch and hold it and choose Download.
- What happens next depends on the file type:
- Photos and videos are saved to the Photos app. Allow photo library access when asked. BucketMate shows Saved to photos.
- Other files open the Files export sheet. Choose a location to save the file. BucketMate shows Saved to files.
When you download several files with multi-select, all of them go through the Files export sheet.
Copy a presigned link
A presigned link lets anyone with the URL download the file until the link expires.
- Swipe left on a file and tap Copy link, or touch and hold it and choose Copy link.
- Under Link duration, tap 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, or 1 week.
- BucketMate copies the link to your clipboard and shows how long it is valid.
Use a custom duration
- On the Copy link sheet, tap Custom duration.
- Enter a number in Duration and choose Minutes, Hours, or Days.
- Tap Copy link.
If the duration is longer than 7 days, BucketMate warns that most S3 providers limit link duration to 7 days.
Links cannot be revoked. To invalidate a link early, rename or delete the file.
Shared link history
BucketMate keeps a local history of links you create.
- Open it from Settings > Shared links, or tap View history on the Copy link sheet.
- Use Search by file or connection to find a link.
- Tap a link for Open link, Copy link, or Delete from history.
- Swipe left on a link for Copy or Delete.
- Tap Clear to remove all history.
Each row shows when the link Expires or that it has Expired, its duration, and when it was Created. Removing a link from history does not revoke it.
File preview thumbnails (Pro)
With File preview turned on in Settings, file lists show thumbnails for images and videos.
- Supported types: JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, WebP, HEIC, MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WMV, and FLV.
- Files larger than 100 MB show an icon instead of a thumbnail.
- Thumbnails are cached on the device, so returning to a folder is faster.
- Thumbnails use extra data and can affect scrolling on large folders.
